A workbench is the backbone of every workshop. Simply putting it is a bench wherein a woodworker gets together all the work pieces and works.

Working benches can be generally divided into three-

* Wood working benches
* General garage workbenches
* Portable workbenches

Wood working benches made of beech wood is the most sturdy. The standard bench is 50-60 inch long. The bench top should be thicker than 4 inch. Cabinets for keeping tools, nuts etc is utility requirement. The bench usually has two types of clamps to facilitate comfortable work with wood.

* Front clamp
* Back clamp

Even in today’s highly motorized wood working workshops, one cannot do away with the utility of wood working benches.
